The effects of scandal involving Russian crypto brokerage entity “Suex” have become obvious on Russia as the co-founder of the brokerage has been removed from his key post in a bank after US imposed sanctions. On the other hand, an authority has referred the matter of Suex to the Russian Ministry of Interior for examining the scandal and see if the investigation is warranted.
Suex, which is a Russian crypto brokerage house, has been named as a criminal facilitator. The scandal surfaced when the authorities in the US imposed ban on Suex and declared it as a “safe-haven” for crypto criminals. The allegations against Suex are that the brokerage privately deals with clients which are mostly criminal. For instance, US has claimed that Suex has business ties with the Darknet. Even the proceeds of crypto frauds, hacks, ransomware etc. come to Suex. After taking commission, Suex convert illegally obtained crypto funds into cash or even in another crypto according to the wishes of criminals.
Since the brokerage is registered in Russia, therefore, the country’s name has been lowered in the estimation of others. The frustration caused by the scandal has been growing evidently on Russia. In an attempt to relieve some frustration, Russia is looking for people who should be blamed for “Suex” and its activities. The search led to Vasily Zhabykin who was amongst Suex’s founders and was now working as key executive in a Russian bank. As an aftermath of the scandal and US led sanctions, Zhabykin was terminated from his managerial post with the MTS Bank.
Before Zhabykin was forced to quit his job at the bank, he was supervising the team working on the futuristic project called “Neo”. The news of Zhabykin’s removal was later appeared in the leading daily newspaper, which primarily covers local and international business news.
The other co-founders of Suex were also quick in responding to their ex-colleague’s removal. For instance, another co-founder of Suex namely Egor Petukhovsky, too has resigned from his post. He was apparently working with a crypto trading platform known as “Chatex”, which too was connected with Suex. After submitting his resignation, Petukhovsky said on Facebook that he was never part of nor aware of any illegal activities. He also suggested that he has been framed in the case filed by US authorities in the US. He claimed that he is innocent and will contest the case for clearing his name for his family and himself.
The other founders of Suex included persons such as Maxim Kurbangaleev, Ildar Zakirov and Maxim Subbotin. All three have made claims suggesting they are innocent and are not in the knowledge of any suspicious activities at Suex. All three of them are currently associated with different businesses with different companies.
